Mayhem International: 3rd Deposit
$500.00Mayhem Tour Coaches: Coach Jenna Knouse & Coach Morgan PaeseChaperones: 2 parents to be selected by Alex (all expenses covered, excluding airfare)Cost Per Player: $1700-$2000 (4 installments: $500 due 1/31, 3/31, 4/30, balance on 5/31); includes team meals, team bus, competition fees, tourist excursions, June practices, team travel gear.Roster Size: 14-16 field players, 1-2 goal keepersMayhem Commitment: A commitment to this team is a commitment to this club– athletes chosen for this roster are expected to play for Mayhem’s spring, fall and winter travel teams due to the overlapping seasons and tryouts, and to maintain good standing in the Club.Parents’ Attendance: While parents and family members are more than welcome to tag-along, you will not be included in the team travel, hotel rooms, meals, excursions, etc. We are trying to create an environment where the girls feel independence balanced with total reliance on their teammates and coaches (and chaperones). As I warned the girls– they have to be comfortable with the idea of leaving home for 6-7 days with little contact with their families. If homesickness could be a concern, please sit this trip out.Playing Time & Positions: At this age, utility is key to not only complete athletic development, but it also helps increase your odds of staying on the field. When we’re abroad, the girls will be rotate evenly within their positions (but, for example, if we only have 3 athletes who can play defense, they’ll see substantially more time than 10 forwards). For this reason, we asked the girls to try multiple positions through each of their 5 different games, and we will attempt to pick a well-balanced roster!Traveler’s Insurance: Every athlete will be required to purchase an individual travel insurance plan for this trip, as will the Club. I am waiting to hear back from our insurancecompany with recommendations.Daily Routine: 2-4 hours of field hockey, 2-4 hours of sight seeing, 2-4 hours of rest and downtime.List of Potential Excursions: Glasgow open bus tour, Glasgow science museum; Glasgow art museum & tall ship; William Wallace Museum; Falkirk wheel; Edinburgh downtown/ bus tour; Edinburgh castle (maybe a ghost tour!); Site seeing at Loch Katrine, Bike tour around the loch; Hike up “Ben An”Hotels: Holiday Inn Express or the Premier InnFood: All the food is certainly “Americanized” but we will sample some Scottish Cuisine. Bakeries are abundant, they will have to sample the world famous Irn Bru (soft drink/soda)Opponents and Venues: Under-15 district teams from the West (Greater Glasgow area), South (Troon), and East (Edinburgh)… potentially played at The Glasgow National Hockey Center!Flight arrangements: We are looking into group travel arrangements so that the team, coaches and chaperones can all fly together (but if your family is also planning to attend, you can travel separately). We intend to book an overnight flight to Glasgow on Tuesday, June 26th that arrives 10AM-12PM and a departing flight on July 3rd between 8-10AM that will arrive in Philly around 4PM.June Practices: (4) practices to be scheduled in June following spring season.
