On choosing Duke: “Duke has an outstanding academic reputation and an amazing hockey program. I knew I wanted to go there as soon as I walked on campus. With an amazing coaching staff, great location and an all-around competitive school, I knew it was the place for me.”
Other programs considered: Harvard, Lafayette, Syracuse, William and Mary, Columbia, and Villanova
Field hockey honors: All-Main Line Second Team, All-Delco Honorable Mention, USA Festival Championship
Other activities: track and field, the musical, Best Buddies
Best field hockey moment: “My best field hockey moment was NITs this year. Although we won at Festival in the fall, I think my favorite moment was still NITs because my club team Mayhem really progressed. I was so proud of my team because we worked so hard to get to our place. Then, when the whistle blew, we all worked for each other, it was an amazing feeling to know that my team had my back and I had theirs. It’s been amazing watching this club grow and I can’t wait to see what’s next.”
Field hockey goals: “No matter what team or level I’m playing on I always want to find a way to better myself and those around me. I really want to strive for an NCC and NIT win with my club team. Also, being on a highly competitive team like Duke, I’d love to compete for a national championship! All in all, I just want to represent whatever team I’m playing on to my best ability.”
Civitella’s shout-out: “I’d like to thank my parents, my coaches and my teammates. They were all so supportive and every moment pushing me to be better. Thank you all for everything you’ve done! More specifically, I’d like to shoutout my club coach Alex McMahan who taught me the ins and outs of this sport. Alex got me hooked and always wanting more by being such a positive force. In addition, thanks my mom who drives me everywhere and will be on my side no matter what.”
